Affected Regions: North America
Advisory Type: Weather
Dear Valued Customer,
Tropical Storm Nicole’s move up the U.S. East Coast after landfall in Florida will continue to cause some disruptions throughout the peninsula through the rest of the week. Forrester Corporation’s 24/7 emergency response team is monitoring the situation to provide updates through the duration of this storm.
TRUCKLOAD
Truckload capacity is currently available, but some constraints are being seen in areas of road closures. Most road impacts are currently on the East Coast of Florida. Expect to see some impacts to available capacity in Georgia and the Carolinas into the weekend as the storm tracks to the North-Northeast. Your Forrester Corporation team is here to support you with planning, alternative solutions and tracking your freight.
LTL
Many LTL carriers are providing limited service currently, mostly in Northern Florida for terminals in Tampa, Orlando, and West Palm Beach. Expect to see delays for shipments into or out of the state through the end of the week. Delays are also possible further north into Georgia and the Carolinas as carriers adjust operations at specific terminals where direct impacts from the storm are felt. If you are experiencing LTL terminal disruption and backlog, consider consolidation via truckload using our consolidation network. Reach out to your Forrester Corporation account team for support.
INTERMODAL
Expect some minor rail transit delays in Central Florida as ramp crane operations have been limited as the storm moves through. Ramps remain open and will resume crane operations as soon as wind conditions permit.
OCEAN
The Ports of Miami/Everglades and Jacksonville remain closed at this time, under port condition Zulu. Miami has reopened landside operations and will continue to assess for vessel operations based on wind conditions. Jacksonville plans to reopen landside operations Friday morning under normal holiday hours for Veterans Day. In cases of port closure, damage assessments will occur before ports fully reopen and all operations resume.
The Port of Savannah has had no impact to operations so far. Impacts elsewhere along the coast will depend on the path and strength of the storm.
